A perfect gift idea refused :(

Today I was sitting at my laptop planning my story, and my gaze went to the TV, and saw that there were these kids who were playing music instruments; and my mum saw my curiosity.

She just came out and said, “Do you want to learn to play these types of instruments?”

And I told her, “Yes, but an acoustic guitar!”

She started to wonder how will I learn to play that. I told her there were many ways I can learn, either by paid tuition, learning from web, or if I bought from Argos store, then it provides a video to teach you how to play.

After a while, I just realized that I was getting my hopes up way too high. I mean my mum would go and gladly buy the guitar for me, but the problem is always me. Will I actually learn to play? Or will it sit in the corner and gain dust? But then a part of me thinks that I am a musical type of girl, and music always helps to keep me calm, maybe if I did get a guitar and actually practiced it can help to let my creativity flow through.

As a kid I had fun learning to play the keyboard, but then as an adult, since I have an issue with space, I got a folded keyboard/piano. I just gave up with that as sometimes the keys would not press down and make a sound. So why play if when you touch a key it does not make a sound; like it should? Every time I played a piece it did not sound right because the key would not make the sound 😦 it was just annoying!

Do you think I should reconsider and say to my mum that I want an acoustic guitar, and that I will practice properly?

Thinking of you when you’re gone

Has anyone here ever seen the show Leverage? A few days ago, my friend showed me a video where one of the characters named ‘Elliot’ actually sings on the show as part of a con.

It turns out that he is actually a songwriter, singer and musician too.

I really love this one track called ‘Thinking Of You’ and the lyrics and the music is stuck in my head. I had never listened to country music before but this just makes me love it, because his voice is just good and when music is good, you get goose bumps!

I was also listening to Avril lavigne ‘When You’re Gone’ and I thought there is a common theme between the two songs. Both songs seem to be about missing someone. One song talks about someone walking out on them and thinking of them whilst the other song is actually about  missing someone.

What do you think?

I’ve just realized what I did with the title of this post. I think it has a good ring to it 🙂

Song of The Day: Watch Over You – Alter Bridge

Today’s Song of The Day is:

Watch Over You by Alter Bridge

When I was listening to a suggestion provided by a friend today, I also found a tune by Alter Bridge known as Wonderful Life, which I enjoyed so much. Then I remembered that the first tune I heard of this band was this song.

At the time of hearing this song, I was writing a story that had a love triangle in it. Basically this song fitted well with the main character and the best friend who loves her. But it turns out she loves someone else. The best friend has always been there for the main character ever since primary school. He was basically her rock and support when things got rough. A part of him wanted to leave but decides against it.

I have to say the singers voice is absolutely amazing.

I hope you enjoy this song!

Sweet Chocolaty Heaven

Two days ago, I did something that I normally wouldn’t do. More like afraid to do and that by myself. I am the type of girl that supports in the kitchen and never takes the lead role as cook.

But on Wednesday morning I took my first step into actually cooking something fresh and not microwaveable/pre-packed food. I baked COOKIES!  I actually gathered the ingredients and baked fresh chocolate orange cookies! 🙂

Before I just used to buy packs from the supermarkets to bake cookies, but they would never turn out right. And I received some motivation from a fellow blogger too, that gave me inspiration to try and make something fresh, and so here we are:

Yep that is the dough I made after an hours worth of procrastinating and thinking about how am I going to make it. I was more worried about the mathematical element to cooking, as me and maths are not very good friends, we have always had problems.  How to get the corrects grams of the ingredients etc.

But eventually I got on with it and found it was actually quite easy to make. I obviously found a easy recipe through the internet and it was simple and easy instructions.

And this is what I ended up with:

Instead of using dark chocolate I replaced it with white chocolate. I was in chocolaty heaven.

I only had minimal help from my mother, but I did the bulk of the work and that made me feel proud in myself after so long.

My brother couldn’t stop eating the dough, and it is very hard to please my brother and his food tastes, so I scored another bonus 🙂

Both my mum and brother praised my food cooking, so who knows what else I might decide to make next.

Song of the Day: Wonderful Life – Hurts

Today’s Song of the Day is ‘Wonderful Life’ by an artist called ‘Hurts’.

For me, this is one of my feel good songs. It fills me up with a strange sense of positivity when I am feeling down or negative because of tough situations that can occur in life.

The song itself might not be all positive but the music just makes you want to get up and let yourself go and just feel the beat.

Whenever I hear this track the words that really stick with me are:

“Don’t let go, never give up, it’s such a wonderful life”

These words always bring me back everytime I feel my will fades. Everytime I feel like giving up this basically reminds me to keep on fighting and never give up.

I hope you guy’s also enjoy this song!

Liebster Blog Award!

I would like to thank Dreampunk Geek for nominating me for the Liebster award. It means so much to actually receive this award as it shows all the hard work that I put into stories/enteries has paid off. So thank you once again! And I found myself a spot in the blogging world.

The Rules:

  1. Thank the person that nominated you and link back to them.
  2. Answer the questions that the nominated person gave you.
  3. Nominate at least ‘5’ blogs that have less than 200 followers.
  4. Write down 5 questions for the nominee’s to answer.
  5. Post it all on one’s blog.

My questions to Answer:

What do you do when you can’t sleep?

Well when I can’t sleep sometimes I read a book, listen to music (on earphones of course) or I play video games. Once when I was ill with the flu and I couldn’t sleep, I ended up playing Prince of Persia on my mobile, and actually completed the game within 2 hours. The rest of the night I listened to music.

If you had the ability to time travel, would you go to the past or future? Why?

If I had the ability to time travel to the past or the future, I would go into the future just to see how things look at the other end. I would want to see if I am something better than what I am now. Am I happy? Got a good job that accepts me for what I am and never pulls me down, and gained a lot of progression through decent hard work.

Favorite drink?

My favourite drink? I have two favourites. The first one is my master as without it I cannot seem to function properly, it is Mountain Dew Energy Drink. The second is from Twinings: Mango and Lychee Greentea. I would recommend both as they are yummy!

Tell us a secret.

A secret? Once I signed up to be a in a band as a signer. and at that time I really wanted to be a singer (I even joined the choir and gospel singing class and an actual singing class in college as part of an enrichment program), and they told me I was crap because my voice wasn’t rocky enough. So never sang again. No-one knows of that except for my mum and brother. Not even my friends. Until now of course!

Sing or dance?

I would prefer to sing. Even after not singing for years I would prefer it. Although it is mostly humming, but I sing quietly to myself.  I just cannot dance. I have no coordination. Maybe I should join up for a zumba class! apparently good for improving coordination problems.

My Nominations:

So here is my list of blogs that I am nominating for the Liebster Award. I would like to say that I am not quite sure how many followers these blogs have. I have also selected them because I follow them and I enjoy reading their blogs.

  1. Colonel Funk
  2. Sensual Nature
  3. BlinksofBliss
  4. LovingLouder

My Questions for Nominees:

  1. If you auditioned for a role in a movie, would  you be the Hero or Villian? And Why?
  2. Which do you prefer better? Disney or Pixar Animation?
  3. Tea or Coffee?
  4. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you choose to go?
  5. Chocolate or Cookies?

Liebster Award

Been nominated and that makes me happy. Thought I’d reblog this as a reminder!

dreampunk geek

I would just like to say what a wonderful community the blogging world is. Had a really nice surprise when I logged in today to find that Musings of a Steampunk nominated me for a Leibster Award!

Here is how it works:

  1. Thank and link back to the giver.
  2. Answer the giver’s questions.
  3. ‘Nominate’ five other blogs with fewer than 200 followers.
  4. Ask five questions for one’s nominees to answer.
  5. Post it all on one’s blog

My questions to answer:

  1. Do you like puzzles?

Sure. But I’m horrible at solving them.

  2. When you have terrible writers’ block, what do you do about it?

Take a break for a day or week. Stop stressing over being perfect in the first try. And as soon as I feel like writing again, I run to my computer as fast as humanly possible. Rocket boosters are used. It usually hits me pretty suddenly.

  3. Is…

Anywhere With You – Chapters 1, 2, & 3

I am back once again and hopefully here to stay for a good while this time. I just had a few things going on that I could not get online to update the blog. But while away I have been a good girl and was working on a new story.

This one I am approaching it in a different way. Every chapter is 200 words, so I guess you could say that I am challenging myself to write a chapter in 200 words. It is supposed to help me to stick to my goal of writing 200 words everyday.

I’ll be uploading 3 chapters every week.

Well I hope you enjoy it, sorry if it is not up to my normal standards. By the way it is sort of a paranormal romance story :), well an attempt at it since I read this genre quite a lot!

Anywhere With You: Chapters 1, 2, & 3

Written by: Manvinder Jagdev

Alexis and Caleb stood at the entrance to the dense forest smiling at each other.

“The last one over the cliff is a rotten egg.” Caleb grinned.

“Whatever, you’re so going to lose!” Alexis said confidently. Alexis and Caleb readied themselves.

“1…2…3…GO!” Caleb shouted. They both ran like the wind.

They were on an even keel, until Alexis pushed herself further and dashed faster. They both leaped over the bluff one after the other.

As they did their bodies morphed into the most beautiful wolves.

They pounced onto the ground and howled at the full moon. They circled each other.

“So, who’s the rotten egg?” Alexis giggled.

“No-one can beat Alexis at challenges.” Caleb sighed.

Even in wolf form they were speaking to each other telepathically.

Caleb’s black beaded eyes seemed lost within her dark-blue eyes. The wind ruffled through their soft and silky fur. Hers was pure white, like snow. His was black with a hint of dark brown.

She sniffed the air around her and started to growl at a south-east direction. The male wolf tensed.

A distant scream for help made her run into that direction leaving the male wolf behind whimpering for his mate’s safety.

~X~

The scream resonated through the woodland, and she ran hastily towards her destination. The light breeze blew through her white fur providing more momentum to get there quicker.

She came to a sudden standstill when she reached her target.

The young man’s foot was caught by a bear trap with its sharp claws digging deep within him.

Alexis, in wolf guise, paced cautiously towards him, her intense blue eyes staring directly at him. He was petrified by her presence. He was pleading.

“Please don’t kill me.”

She paused in front of him and changed back into her human physique. She was on all fours. Her long jet-black hair with strands of ginger flowed down over her shoulders.

He watched her with disbelief wondering whether he was dreaming or this was actually happening.

Her hand moved to the bear trap and with ease ripped the trap apart; and threw the pieces into the forest. He was in agony.

She put her finger to her lips trying to shush him and then walked off behind the tree.

The next thing the young man saw was the white wolf gazing straight at him. He was mesmerized.

“Thank you.” He murmured and fainted.

~X~

Hey buddy, wake up.”

The young man stirred from his deep slumber.

“Where am I?”

“You’re still in the forest. What happened to you?” His friend asked fairly perplexed.

“My foot…” he flinched as he moved it, “it got caught by a bear trap; while looking for fire wood.” He said.

“We were really distressed about you. We even conducted a search party to find you. However we had no luck.”

“Maybe I went further into the forest than I imagined.” He shook his head and attempted to get up.

“Let me help you there, Issac.” His friend provided a hand, and Issac took it and got up slowly.

“Thanks James.”

“Your welcome buddy.”

Issac limped as he walked and the pain was excruciating than last night.

“I was saved by a wolf woman last night.” Issac blurted out without much thought. James chuckled.

“A wolf woman? I think maybe the weed had some strong side effects on you.” James laughed.

“I’m not joking.” Issac spoke defensively.

As they walked they stumbled onto a vast farm land with a ‘No Trespassing’ sign. Issac instantly froze at the sight before him. He was speechless.

“James…I’m not lying…that’s her…that’s the wolf woman…”

So what did you think?
