Here With Me – Chapter 2

Hello Everyone!

How are you?

Here is the new chapter for the new story. I hope you enjoy it! 🙂

Here With Me

Chapter 2

Darkness. That is all that can be seen behind closed eyes.

Suddenly, it appeared. A flicker of light like a sparkling star in the distance. It grew brighter and brighter eventually consuming everything in its path. The warmth of the light brushed against the skin awakening every cell in the body.

Sounds. The sound of blood pounding in the ears. The heart beating feverishly.

A prickly feeling rushed through the entire body, resurrecting movement in a lifeless body.

My eyes opened gradually, but my vision was blurry. I couldn’t make out where I was. My throat was parched. I needed water. All I could hear was many strange beeping sounds of machines surrounding me. Then I heard it…a distorted voice…speaking in a devilish tone.

“Oh thank God! She’s awake. Get the doctor!”

Somewhere in my mind an unknown voice lingered. It spoke to me, ‘It’s time to wake up Keisha. I’m waiting for you.’

Suddenly everything disappeared and I was lost to the world once again.

The Next Day

When my eyes opened, I took in my surroundings. The walls were pure white, and the room smelled like disinfectant spray and it wafted throughout the whole building. Beside me was a small bedside table, and on that table was a vase of flowers and a cup of water which was covered by a coaster.

Adjacent to me was a chair and I noticed it was occupied. My brother Cole was sprawled out on the chair, sleeping. When he couldn’t get comfortable, one of his eyes popped open, and he instantly sat up and yawned.

He checked his watch and with a cheerful smile he said, “Good afternoon, Nicola Allyson! You’re finally in the land of the living!” He got up from the seat and hugged me tight like a bear trap clutching to its prey.

“You know, we were all worried about you,” he said as he went and sat back on the chair, he sat at the edge of the seat, his arms resting on his knees as he leaned forwards, “we thought we had lost you forever.”

“Why?” I asked him. I was utterly lost.

“Wait, you don’t remember, do you?”

“Remember what?”

Cole sighed and looked straight into my eyes, “long story short…you had a stalker. You witnessed him killing your best friend because she found his ‘so called’ shrine dedicated to you, she called and asked you to meet her there so she could show you. Afterwards, you went to the police and filed a report, but they could never catch him. He then started to threaten you and almost killed you…hence you went under witness protection because no matter what he would always find you.” Cole lowered his eyes, I think he saw the I-don’t-know-what-you’re-talking-about expression playing on my face; and Cole stood up, “I’ll be back in a moment.” He left the room.

I was alone for quite some time. I watched the entrance of the room hoping Cole would return as I began to feel unsafe, as if unknown eyes were spying on me. Out of nowhere someone else appeared in the entrance to the ward room, someone I didn’t know or never seen before. When my eyes landed on him, my heart skipped a beat.

“Who are you?” I asked, sitting up in my hospital bed.

“My name is Justin.” He said resting against the door frame with his arms folded.

“Do I know you?”

“Of course, you know me, Keisha. I’m your fiancé.” I could tell my expression was of pure bewilderment.

“Excuse me, what did you just say?”

Just like that he smiled and left. It was uncanny to explain but, it felt like my heart wanted to jump out and land straight in his hands! Why did I feel this way? We only just met! I began to panic, I couldn’t figure out what was happening to me…maybe, it was a dream and I’m just waiting to wake up. I pinched my skin and it hurt. Nope. This was not a dream.

I ripped out the wires that were connected to a drip and scrambled out of my bed, only to fall on the floor. My legs felt stiff and numb, I was unable to move.

“Nicola!” Cole rushed up to my side and hoisted me back on my feet again and tucked me into bed. My breathing was rapid; I was distraught.

“What are you doing? You should be resting!” Cole was angry at me.

“I don’t know what is going on! I don’t even know why I’m in hospital! I don’t know why this complete stranger came and told me he was my fiancé!” I cried into his shoulder and I couldn’t stop myself. I felt him tense as he pulled me away at arms length.

“What was his name?” He asked.

“He said his name was Justin.” I sobbed. I could see the shock on his face, and as quickly as it arrived he made it vanish. He embraced me again and stroked the long length of my hair.

“It’s okay Nicola. You’re safe. No one can hurt you any more…” His voice became mute.

What did you guys think? Confusing right? Well everything will get clearer as the chapters come down!

This reminds me of when I was in college and the strange ideas I used to come out with 🙂

5 Word Writing Challenge: The Game of Life!

Hi There!

Before I begin, I would like to say that this is not 100 words this time, it was too difficult to condense down. In fact I found myself adding and adding. I tried to make it 100 words, but it didn’t sound as great. So this is a short story near enough to 200 words instead!

The words that got selected this time were:

  1. Internship
  2. Tune
  3. Atmospheric
  4. Dress
  5. Searing

Here is my story I wrote:

Amanda was an internship at a company that created video games. They were making a RPG game.

She stared at the main menu of the game when she saw an avatar clad in armour approach the screen. His hand came through the screen and pulled her in.

Amanda whirled around finding herself stuck in a dark forest. The trees were menacing as they looked ready to claw her to death.

When she looked down at her attire she gaped.

“A dress? I hate dresses!” She moaned.

Out of nowhere an eerie and an atmospheric tune began to play. The kind you hear in horror movies.

Something caught her attention. It sounded like a sword being drawn from its sheath.

Amanda turned around and came face to face with a menacing creature with horns, red skin, almost like a bull, but not a bull. In its hand was a sword covered in spitting flames, the temperature was searing!

“It’s time to fight!” Its voice was deep and demonic, even as it laughed fiendishly at her, showing its superiority.

What did you guys think? I’ll be honest, I had fun writing this one!

What is it? – Chapter 8

Hi There!

How are you?

Here is the latest installment of the story. I think the next chapter will be the last one or the one after that. But we shall see! 🙂

What is it? Chapter 8

Damien stood alone in the living room, looking at the photographs that sat proudly on the mantelpiece. He picked up the family photo and held it firmly in his hands. He allowed his fingertips to brush the glass trying to remember this day. He burst into tears and hugged the photo close to his chest.

He felt a hand land on his shoulder as he put the photo back from where he took it, and took a sideways glance and saw it was Jake.

Damien remained silent, looking abashed that his elder brother saw him crying. Jake stepped closer and hugged his brother. Damien was insecure, his defences were down, but he automatically embraced Jake.

“I’ve been waiting for so long to be reunited with my family again. I missed you all so much!” Jake said.

Damien didn’t say anything back in response. He just wanted to savour this moment.

“Ahem!” The two boys startled and stood apart from one another, Damien wiped his face clean from the tears, “am I missing a family reunion?” Chelsie said with her hands on her hips, now sulking.

“A family reunion wouldn’t be complete without you. Get over here!” Jake ushered her over and Damien smiled.

Chelsie’s face lit up like one hundred LED light bulbs and she skipped over to them happily, “Group hug time!” and she threw her arms around their shoulders squeezing them tight. Jake felt like he was getting squished by a bear!

“It seems my little sister has the strength of ten men in her!”

Damien chuckled, “You’ll get used to it.”

Chelsie stepped away with sheepish smile as she apologized, “Sorry, I guess I don’t really know how strong I can be.”

“It’s okay!” From the display of strength, Jake now knew his sister was capable of looking out for herself.

Oceana and the other’s came into the room looking half asleep, “Good Morning!” Stone yawned, “sorry, sharing a bed with Damien is an equivalent of having night terrors!”

Damien scowled, but then a playful grin spread across his lips. This was the perfect opportunity to have fun with the team leader!

“Let me guess, constant tossing and turning, kicking his right leg out, putting his smelly feet in your face, taking the duvet all for himself and you’re almost falling off the bed. Am I right?” Jake asked.

“Yes, and let me tell you, this is my first encounter with someone who sleeps, but doesn’t stay still whilst sleeping!” Everyone burst into a fit of laughter as they went to the kitchen.

They all went and huddled around each other in the kitchen, as they searched for food to eat. They sat on the stools around the kitchen counter top when their eyes landed on the small device.

“What are we going to do about this device? Hey, I have an idea, how about we smash it to pieces!” Chelsie sounded thrilled at the idea of destroying alien technology.

“We won’t learn anything about it if we smash it to smithereens.” Stone said.

Without warning the device lit up, with blue lights that flashed on and off, all up and around the device, it began to shake and rattled against the marble counter top. They all moved in closer observing it when they registered that it had begun to morph as it took the shape of liquid metal like mercury. When it transformed, it was a live mechanical bug. It had the ability to fasten onto its prey. It sprung out its wings and began to take flight.

“Run NOW! If this thing gets hold of you, it will give the aliens the ability to control you.” Excell darted off, “RUN!” he repeated and everyone else in the room ran into different directions.

Chelsie stood there and scanned it with her biometric system, but it returned no results, this was a fairly new invention. She wasn’t afraid as it carried on hovering above her, but when it swooped down towards her at speed, she ran like her life depended on it. She caught sight of the baseball bat near the front door and she grasped hold of it. She spun around and whacked the bug with force, making it crash into the wall. It tried to take off again, but Chelsie proceeded with her attack until sparks began to spit out; in every way destroying the system’s core.

Chelsie was breathless. she threw the baseball bat away from her and she tidily placed her loose hair that escaped from her pony tail behind her ears.

“Remind me to never get on your bad side.” Jake was thunderstruck.

“This takes care of one problem at least!” Excell was glad. He remembered when the aliens allowed it to attach itself to the base of his neck and the pain that he had experienced was excruciating!

“There is one more thing we need to do. Find my parents.” Oceana wanted answers. She needed to find the secret that the aliens are trying so hard to hide. She wanted to know why this secret is worth killing her for. She despised the aliens right now, how they manipulated human kind to do their cruel bidding!

“If you tell me your parents names and the area where you used to live, I can ask my friend in the police for one small favour.” Jake winked.

“Thank you,” Oceana said, “I was born and raised in Canterbury. My father’s name is Raymond Davidson and my mother’s is Danielle Davidson.”

~X~

It had been hours since Oceana had given him the details he needed; he called his friend from the police and politely demanded him to find out the information. After a lot of “sorry I can’t help you” type sentences, he gave up against Jake’s stubbornness.

Eventually the phone rang and it was his friend. He was rapid in answering the call and listened intently; during the conversation his eyes were downcast; hiding them away.

“Thank you, Brad.” He disconnected the call. He felt a wave of sympathy; as there was good news and bad news. Jake went into the living room and found everyone sitting close together on the seats watching a game of football. Stone spotted him standing behind them, lost in deep thoughts; he switched of the TV and the room fell silent.

“I take it that you heard back from Brad. What did he say?” Stone asked. Oceana stood up, her eyes contained a faint glimmer in them.

“There is good news. And there is bad news. Which would you prefer to hear first?”

She reflected on this for a few moments, when she finally decided to speak, “The bad news.”

“I’m sorry to have to tell you this, but, Raymond Davidson died a few years back due to an accident.” Jake felt like a bearer of bad news.

“And the good news?”

“Danielle Davidson, still lives at the Canterbury address.” He said with a small smile.

She smiled, but the sadness lurked in the background, “You have done so much for us. I don’t know how to repay you.” She said. Jake had noticed she had a dismal expression, he disliked seeing her unhappy, he liked it when she smiled because that was what he loved about her…her smile!

“Don’t worry about it. It’s what friends…are for.” He said. Deep down inside he knew the attraction between them was a bit more than friendship. There was a spark!

“Can we go and see my mum, tomorrow?” She asked. He could hear the restraint in her voice, it sounded teary. She wanted to be alone to cry alone.

“Yeah, sure thing.” He gave her a smile as she turned her back on the group and went out of sight. The sound of soft footsteps going up the carpeted floor filled the air.

What exactly is FEAR?

Everyday Power Blog

Image

In this short post, we look at the choices we have when fear presents itself. Fear will determine our levels of love, significance, success, achievement, motivation and contribution. When fear presents itself, what meaning do you put behind it?

Let’s get started!

I loved this image for a couple of reasons. The acronyms are sheer genius, but second and even more important – it reinforces and recognizes the choice we always have and the power we ALWAYS have. How we handle fear will determine who we are. Fear will determine the relationships you do or do not have, the places you go or don’t go, what you can and can’t handle, what you say yes or no to, your ability to seize opportunities and your able to learn, do, try and become something new. POWERFUL STUFF!!

Make fear your friend. Make fear the best thing to ever happen…

Song of the Day: Mauja Hi Mauja – Jab We Met

Hi There!

How is everyones weekend so far?

It is the weekend, the time that everyone uses to relax, catch up with friends, go out and visit places, and of course to have fun! So today, I thought I would share one of my feel good tracks.

This particular song is from a bollywood movie called ‘Jab We Met’ and basically it is one of my favourite movies because it is funny and no matter how many times you watch it, you will never get bored of it. Also I’m a big fan of the couple in the movie. They work so well together.

The reason why I chose this particular track for song of the day, is because it makes you want to dance, and be care free and have fun, well that is the case with me. The video I found luckily has English translations on it, so if you like it, you can read the lyrics 🙂

I hope you continue to have a brilliant weekend!

A Better Place…

Yesterday, I sat at my laptop whilst filling out an application form for a voluntary position, and a rather interesting thought had occurred to me, how far have I come since last year?

I realized that I came very far! Let’s just say that 2012 was a bad year. The only good things that happened was my trip to India (there I felt alive, I was loved and didn’t feel alone and generally I was happy and content inside myself), creating this blog (by the way it will be 1 year on 19th June, I believe), and the few outings I had with friends. It was last year I saw the musical ‘War Horse’ on my friends birthday and he invited my mother to come along too. That was the only good stuff that happened.

The rest of the time had been spent feeling down and depressed because of my ex-job, how they treated me and said horrible things to me or behind my back. They stopped being nice to me after they found out that I was dyslexic. They started to assume I was dumb and stupid, they basically stopped my progression in the company.

I have to say that quitting that job was the best move I could have made! I feel happier within myself. The negativity is slowly working its way out of my system, (I mean it is still there, but it is silent, maybe it is waiting for the right time to grip hold of me again), but still I’m not thinking about that anymore.

Right now, I feel that I am ready to embrace the working world once more. Considering my confidence and self-esteem took a big collapse, I’ve decided that it is better to start at a voluntary position, gain the skills of a good worker and boost up my confidence and self-esteem once again.

So yesterday I spent most of my morning filling out the application. The only bits left to do is the references sections and in my employment section think of reasons for leaving my previous employment.

I have no idea what reason to put, I can’t say that I left because they were treating me badly, saying horrible and mean things about me and thinking I’m dumb and stupid because I am dyslexic, can I? So yes, it is something I need to think about. After that I just need to submit it and wish for the best!

One thing I have learned though, to not to mention my small weakness ever again.

I am in a better place, everything is turning back to beautiful colours again. My writing is improving (it is what I feel, only you, my readers can tell me how far I have improved or not :)) and generally I am feeling great! So here is to a good future ahead!
