5 Word Writing Challenge: The Next Top Model

Hi There!

You guessed it, another five word writing challenge!

The words that were selected this time round were:

  1. Absorption
  2. Kill
  3. Modelling
  4. The Uninitiated
  5. Enjoy

Here is my story:

Kirsty was in the limelight. She was voted as the most beautiful model in the show.

All the other contestants would kill to be in her position right now. When she made her first appearance with the uninitiated group in the modelling world; they had no clue what they were getting themselves into. They were continuously humiliated by the mistakes made and the harsh critics broke them. Eventually, they came out with flying colours!

Her absorption in her work was evident as she surpassed the others. She basked in her moment of glory. I want to enjoy this moment!

What exactly is FEAR?

Everyday Power Blog

Image

In this short post, we look at the choices we have when fear presents itself. Fear will determine our levels of love, significance, success, achievement, motivation and contribution. When fear presents itself, what meaning do you put behind it?

Let’s get started!

I loved this image for a couple of reasons. The acronyms are sheer genius, but second and even more important – it reinforces and recognizes the choice we always have and the power we ALWAYS have. How we handle fear will determine who we are. Fear will determine the relationships you do or do not have, the places you go or don’t go, what you can and can’t handle, what you say yes or no to, your ability to seize opportunities and your able to learn, do, try and become something new. POWERFUL STUFF!!

Make fear your friend. Make fear the best thing to ever happen…

Song of the Day: Mauja Hi Mauja – Jab We Met

Hi There!

How is everyones weekend so far?

It is the weekend, the time that everyone uses to relax, catch up with friends, go out and visit places, and of course to have fun! So today, I thought I would share one of my feel good tracks.

This particular song is from a bollywood movie called ‘Jab We Met’ and basically it is one of my favourite movies because it is funny and no matter how many times you watch it, you will never get bored of it. Also I’m a big fan of the couple in the movie. They work so well together.

The reason why I chose this particular track for song of the day, is because it makes you want to dance, and be care free and have fun, well that is the case with me. The video I found luckily has English translations on it, so if you like it, you can read the lyrics 🙂

I hope you continue to have a brilliant weekend!

A Better Place…

Yesterday, I sat at my laptop whilst filling out an application form for a voluntary position, and a rather interesting thought had occurred to me, how far have I come since last year?

I realized that I came very far! Let’s just say that 2012 was a bad year. The only good things that happened was my trip to India (there I felt alive, I was loved and didn’t feel alone and generally I was happy and content inside myself), creating this blog (by the way it will be 1 year on 19th June, I believe), and the few outings I had with friends. It was last year I saw the musical ‘War Horse’ on my friends birthday and he invited my mother to come along too. That was the only good stuff that happened.

The rest of the time had been spent feeling down and depressed because of my ex-job, how they treated me and said horrible things to me or behind my back. They stopped being nice to me after they found out that I was dyslexic. They started to assume I was dumb and stupid, they basically stopped my progression in the company.

I have to say that quitting that job was the best move I could have made! I feel happier within myself. The negativity is slowly working its way out of my system, (I mean it is still there, but it is silent, maybe it is waiting for the right time to grip hold of me again), but still I’m not thinking about that anymore.

Right now, I feel that I am ready to embrace the working world once more. Considering my confidence and self-esteem took a big collapse, I’ve decided that it is better to start at a voluntary position, gain the skills of a good worker and boost up my confidence and self-esteem once again.

So yesterday I spent most of my morning filling out the application. The only bits left to do is the references sections and in my employment section think of reasons for leaving my previous employment.

I have no idea what reason to put, I can’t say that I left because they were treating me badly, saying horrible and mean things about me and thinking I’m dumb and stupid because I am dyslexic, can I? So yes, it is something I need to think about. After that I just need to submit it and wish for the best!

One thing I have learned though, to not to mention my small weakness ever again.

I am in a better place, everything is turning back to beautiful colours again. My writing is improving (it is what I feel, only you, my readers can tell me how far I have improved or not :)) and generally I am feeling great! So here is to a good future ahead!

5 Word Writing Challenge: Indecent Exposure

Here is another story done using 5 different words. The words that I ended up picking were:

  1. Unyielding
  2. Answer phone
  3. Charge Sheet
  4. Father
  5. Obnoxious

Here is my story (it is done to a 100 word count):

A cop sat at his desk filling out a charge sheet. He sighed.

This guy is so obnoxious I don’t understand how his father can stand him. The police officer picked up the phone and dialed a number. The phone rang until he was greeted with the answer phone, once again.

“Hello, Mr. Stevens. This is officer Parker with the metropolitan police. Your son has been arrested, once again, for indecent exposure, this time we found…when you get this message, could you please come to the station. Thank you.”

Officer Parker put the phone down. Why is this guy so unyielding?

I decided to have it that Officer Parker is an acquaintance of the father.

5 Word Writing Challenge: The Gnome Wars!

I found an article from my writing magazine subscription and it gave me an idea to keep my creativity inspired. Basically, all I had to do is go through my dictionary and pick 5 random words and then write a little story with those 5 words in the story.

Here are the 5 words I randomly chose:

  • Overboard
  • Foster
  • Making
  • Self-imposed
  • Bossy

I got truly inspired after watching this funny ikea advert to do with gnomes. You can see the advertisement for yourself as it helped me with the 100 word story I’ve written:

Here is my 100 word story:

He was the gnome leader, a fierce warrior. For a leader he was very bossy, commanding his minions to serve him. They shared the garden with the evil humans and their unbreakable tall castles.

When he gave the powerful speech, he fostered his minions with passion for revenge for being tossed aside and considered useless. All his decisions were self-imposed. He was thinking about making history, the little gnomes defeat the unbeatable powerful humans!

His followers quivered at the thought of war, but still they decided to follow him; even though they all thought he was about to go overboard…

I really love the tune in the advert as it really went well with the scenes and made it really dramatic!

Here’s an idea, lets see what you come out with by using the 5 words I’ve used. I would love to read what you come out with 🙂 You can even link back to me if you wanted to and then I can read it that way.

Good Luck!
