Song of the Day: You – Breaking Benjamin

Here I am once again, with another song of the day 🙂

Artist: Breaking Benjamin

Song: You

The reason why this song is the song of the day is because it fits one of my characters very well. I might not have mentioned this, but I am doing Camp NaNoWriMo and the story I am working on is the story I started to write when I was in India. I thought this idea could easily be completed in the 50,000 range. So far I have completed around 11,639 words.

This character that I speak off, is a ghost who I named Emma Beckett. She haunts her house and she cannot remember how she died or who is her family. The only person she remembers is her fiance. She has been dead for two years and life continues to move forwards around her and she is stuck in the past or in the middle of not knowing.

She meets a young man who can actually see her and with his help she starts to find answers. Answers that she didn’t want to hear. Everywhere she looks she finds nothing but betrayal.

This song creates a little music video in my mind of Emma’s trials and tribulations to discovering her answers of who murdered her and discovering her families truth.

Song of the Day: Roko Na Mujhe – Sifar

This is going to show a different side of me, I believe, as I tend to hide quite a bit of myself a lot of the time. I’ve only been adding English songs as Song of the Day’s, but I also have another side to me. The side that listens Indian music. The only two people that know that I listen to Indian music is obviously my mum and brother and possibly one friend. So I’ve decided to reveal this side of me, today!

So yesterday I was going through the music I have on my laptop and I realised I didn’t give this Indian rock band much of a listen when I first got hold of the EP; because my brother didn’t like it much. But yesterday while I was working on writing my friends content pages for his website, I truly sat down and really took in the EP.

I must admit that I do like their style! It is quite addictive to listen to especially this one track ‘Roko Na Mujhe’. After hearing it just a few times yesterday I got the lyrics stuck in my head!

I know I can’t speak Hindi, but I understand it. Well the truth is that every time I try and speak it feels like the words are stuck and I stammer a lot and then I give up. When I was India it helped as I was forced to speak to communicate with my relatives.

Well anyway enough of my chatter; I hope you guys enjoy it too! 🙂

Artist: Sifar

Song: Roko Na Mujhe

Oh and if you know any other Indian rock bands share some down here, please. I’ll listen to anything even the heavier stuff! 🙂 Thank you!

Feeling the love?

Hi!

So how is everyone these days?

Today was a strange day. Normally I avoid listening to songs that speak of love, I don’t know why this is? Maybe it is because I have given up on the idea of love? Well anyway, whatever it is, that brick wall decided to surrender today. It crumbled away and showed cobwebs surrounding the heart that I had locked away so tightly for a year and bit.

This all happened after listening to this artist called Framing Hanley! These songs invoked something within me, especially the songs ‘You’ and ‘Fool With Dreams’.

This song does something to me every time I hear it. The lyrics just seem to pluck away at the heart strings.

“For you
‘Cause I don’t want to lose you

I was thinking about telling you
I was in love
I was in love with you
With you
With you
I’m in love with you”

The singers voice is amazing and accompanied by the acoustic guitar makes this song a beautiful one.

“I’m a fool with dreams and not a lot of things
I swear that I will be all you need, don’t give up on me
Give me one more day, don’t give this all away
We’ll be fine you’ll see, just don’t give up on me”

“I’ve got the feeling that this will never cease
Living in these pictures
It never comes with ease
I swear that if I could make this right
You’d be back by now”

These three songs are just beautiful and meaningful and I’m in love with them. I know that ‘Alone in This Bed’ is quite a sad song as it’s about missing someone but, I’ll be honest I think these three songs are worthy of Songs of the Day. What do you think?

Song of the Day: I’ll Reach You – Delain

Well I haven’t done this in such a long time! I guess I’m slowly getting back to my old self once again.

Artist: Delain

Song: I’ll Reach You

I heard this song only a few days ago and ever since I heard it, it started to play with my emotions. The lyrics seemed to take me back to a point in my childhood when I was separated from a childhood friend. In fact in those days he was the only friend I had. Yes, I was quite the unloved little girl back then.

My brother had given him the name of Norman Bates, yes, it is the name of a fictional character from a horror movie. He had come all the way from Scotland and shifted into the opposite apartment building. We could never be separated and it seemed we were super glued together. I remember one image where my dad had taken me and my best friend for a drive in his new car and we just had fun being silly kids playing in the back seat.

The lyrics which creates such a reaction are these:

Here’s to you if you care to listen
Here’s to you, let me cross the distance

Even if you’re not here
I’ll reach you, I’ll reach you
Even though you’re away, I’m near
We’ll forgive and forget
I’ll reach you

The thing is we spent about one month together and in that time he had meant so much to me and I treasured our friendship so much. But he then had to go back to Scotland but, because I was at school, I couldn’t even say goodbye to him. He did leave me his toy tractor as a reminder of him. I cried for ages when he left. The thing is, after all these years he has never left my mind and once in a while a thought of him always appears in my mind. Sometimes questions appear in my mind like: Is he okay? Is he happy? What does he do in his spare time? Does he work in his dream job?

After all those questions, it relates to another set of lyrics which rings true:

Seven years and seven days you’ve been gone
Seven years of changing faith and opinion
Would you recognize me
If you walked beside me?
I would keep on waiting
It’s been to long

But what these lyrics say is quite true, would he recognise me if we walked past each other? Probably not. What if we have bumped into each other and not known it? That would be a funny game fate would have played with us.

If there is someone you miss, what song would you listen to that would remind you of that person?

Well anyway, enough of a trip down memory lane.

I hope you guys enjoy the tune! 🙂

Song of The Day: I Feel Immortal – Tarja

The Song of The Day is actually a song that I thought suited the entire idea of the novel I am going to be writing during NaNoWriMo. Tarja Turunen also used to be the singer for nightwish but now has started to do her albums as a solo artist.

Song: I Feel Immortal

Artist: Tarja or Tarja Turunen

This tune is mostly for my main character, Abhilasha. It just sums up how she feels with everything that is going to be happening to her. In her dreams she knows she doesn’t have to fear or be scared of death as she is some what safe there. Although her dreams are scary, confusing and mostly premonitions she feels she can survive.

Outside of her dream world she is the most wanted person in the real world. She knows that soon her time will come when she will have to fight for her survival.

It is just a beautiful song and she has a stunning voice! 🙂

Song of The Day: Crazy – Kidney Thieves

The Song of The Day is:

Song: Crazy

Artist: Kidney Thieves

This tune is actually done for the soundtrack to “Bride of Chucky” which was in 1998. I first heard of this artist when I heard another song of theirs from a different soundtrack “Queen of The Damned”.

Well this track is actually a cover to the original which was done by Patsy Cline.

Here is the original too:

So which do you guys prefer? I like both. They both have a different feel to them.

A New Direction

The last month I have been working on planning my novel. I have been doing this with a friend as we are both trying to motivate each other. When I think of idea’s/scenes/and characters they are very basic ideas with not much thought to extend it further. But when I hear instrumental music or classical music I find that these same idea’s/scenes/ and characters are actually more than just basic. I start to turn those basic ideas into small scenes and it is like watching a movie and those ideas are extended.

So the story I am writing is one that I had started writing a little over a year ago, but never completed as I ended up getting writer’s block. Last month this idea came and hit me again and decided I’m going to change it and take it into a different direction. Before it was a paranormal romance now I’m changing the direction towards friendship. I just feel that every time I try to write a paranormal romance I can never complete it, it is like a strange block. Yet I read the genre a lot. Well anyway the point is that I wanted to try something different.

The music that has been helping me the most is actually “The Dark Knight Rises” movie soundtrack, well to be honest one track which has helped considerably, “No Stone unturned”

Do you find that music helps when it comes to planning a novel or thinking of ideas?

The one thing I really like about Hans Zimmer and his music is that it truly captures you and takes you onto a journey.

This tune, especially during the last couple of days has really helped to fill in the blanks in my planning, and ordering everything around so the story makes sense. So I guess music is a big aid!

If you find that music is a big aid for you as well, what track really helps you? 🙂
